I hope you guys are enjoying the warmth as much as I am! I’ve been meaning to post this article for over a month now, and life just kept happening.
Save this article for future reference and a lot of things you can do during the summer as well!
I don’t know about you guys, but entertaining Hailey is becoming harder and harder as she gets older, and without a sibling, I am her main playdate.
She’s my little best friend so the actual playing with her is great, but constantly coming up with ideas can be tough? Ya feel me?
I’ve started making myself lists to print and hang up so if my coffee has worn off and she’s getting restless I can refer back to the list for suggestions for her.
Some of the items are just a little preparation on my end, but she can play on her own so I can do the dishes or make another cup of coffee haha!
- DIY egg shakers
One of the first big hits are these little egg shakers I made. The eggs were leftover from Easter and the other items I already had.
Hailey loves music, and she has her own little instruments, but variety is a wonderful thing for curiosity and imagination.
The items shown in the picture above are what I used to put in the eggs, but you really can use anything as long as it can shake and make some noise you’re solid.
I put some tape around it to keep them sealed and that’s it! Super simple and she loved it!
2. Flower garden sensory box
When I take the time to put a sensory box together I will leave it out for her to continue playing with it when she wants too.Pl
She’s really gotten into pouring lately so adding the beans was the best for her.
All items found at the dollar store:
- Fake flowers
- Gardening gloves
- Plastic bugs and butterflies
- Brown dried beans
- Paper grass- leftover from easter
- Varies plastic “tools” for scooping and pouring.
- Two large and 3 small plastic pots
- Pinwheel (probably her favorite thing in the whole bin haha!)
3. “Decorating” flowers
A super simple craft and I’ll link the file for you to download the flower sheet I made at the end of this article.
All it is is the flower print out, cut up construction paper for the petals and a glue stick.
She loved it so much that the next day she asked for a totally new flower to “decorate” again.
4. Find the creatures
All this takes is a small container, rice, a measuring spoon or two, and some plastic little animals I found at the dollar store.
5. Good ‘ol fashion painting
I am not a huge paint fan. I don’t mind messy crafts, but when it comes to pain it’s a different story.
We currently rent an apartment and the thought of Hailey getting paint everywhere is pretty horrifying, honestly.
I stole one of my husband’s old shirts though so that’s helped bring anxiety down somewhat.
Regardless of myself Hailey loves it and it’s fantastic for her creativity.
While she paints I might even through on some classical music to really feel like I’m an overachiever LOL.
Tell me in the comments what are some of your favorite toddler activities to do?
