Hey loves! This August Hailey is starting “preschool” and I am really excited, but probably just as nervous to be honest.
Hailey is definitely on the really shy side at the moment, but I am trying to stay hopeful and positive this will be good for her!
As my friend and I were checking around for options for a preschool program everything was way out of our price range.
She started talking about how when she was little her mom and a group of other moms got together and created their own little preschool group call “Joy School”.
She mentioned us doing it with a few other mom’s she knew from her church and I was immediately up for it!
There will be 5 kids total and therefore 5 moms all rotating with either teaching or helping.
The kids range from ages 3-4 years so all same level essentially.
I love the fact the group is small and consistent for Hailey’s sake since she only knows one little boy really well from the group currently.
The “curriculum” we are just creating ourselves. I mean it’s preschool- not rocket science.
I didn’t even go to preschool when I was a kid so personally, I’m not stressing.
We have it set up for the same time each week and rotating who will teach and who will help.
The helper will be there for potty times, an extra pair of hands, and handling the meltdowns.
There are some basic concepts we want to consistently cover, but the majority of the time it will change week to week with the theme.
When my sweet friend created the schedule she also assigned each of us a letter and a number to focus on for our theme.
For example, my letters are E, J, and O.
The E will be the theme of emotions, the J – jungle and the O- the ocean.
The numbers I will incorporate with the activities within craft and or circle time.
If you’re stuck on ideas here is a fantastic list I found off the blog Natural Beach Living.
It’s where I got the idea of Emotions for the letter E because man I was stuck on that one!
Have you ever tried a homeschool preschool with other moms before? Let me know in the comments any tips you may have for us!
